RV Appliance Experts in Lakeland, FL
Your RV's appliances are what separate a vehicle from a home. When the A/C dies in July or the refrigerator stops cooling before a week-long trip, your comfort and food safety are at risk. These are not inconveniences you can push off until next month—they are problems that need skilled attention right away.
At Nationwide Haul, our technicians are trained on all major RV appliance brands and understand the unique 12V/120V/LP gas systems that power them. RV appliances do not work like residential units. They run on a combination of direct current, alternating current, and propane—sometimes all three in the same appliance. That complexity demands technicians who have spent years working specifically within the RV world, and that is exactly what you get at our Lakeland facility.
Whether you are a full-timer whose RV is your only home, a snowbird passing through Central Florida, or a weekend warrior prepping for your next state park trip, we treat every appliance repair with the urgency it deserves. Your comfort is not optional—especially not in Florida.
Appliance Services We Provide
Rooftop A/C Systems
A dead A/C in a Florida summer turns your RV into an oven within minutes. We service all major rooftop air conditioning brands including Dometic (Penguin, Brisk Air), Coleman-Mach, and Advent Air. Our A/C services cover compressor diagnosis and replacement, run capacitor and start capacitor replacement, fan motor service for both condenser and evaporator sides, thermostat repair and replacement (analog and digital), and complete ducted system troubleshooting for coaches with multi-zone climate control. We also handle shroud replacement when UV damage or road debris has cracked the outer housing, and we can diagnose why multi-zone systems are cooling unevenly—a common problem in larger Class A and fifth wheel coaches.
Refrigerators
An RV refrigerator that stops cooling can ruin hundreds of dollars in groceries and derail an entire trip. We work on Norcold and Dometic absorption refrigerators as well as residential refrigerator conversions that run on inverter power. Our refrigerator services include no-cooling diagnosis across all operating modes (LP gas, 120V AC, and 12V DC), control board testing and replacement, complete cooling unit replacement for absorption models, LP gas valve service and flame adjustment, 120V heating element testing, and thermistor diagnostics. For coaches with residential refrigerator conversions, we diagnose inverter system issues that can cause intermittent cooling failures—a problem that often mimics a bad fridge when the real culprit is the power delivery system.
Water Heaters
Nothing reminds you that your RV appliances need attention quite like a cold shower on a cool morning. We service Suburban and Atwood/Dometic tank-style water heaters as well as tankless on-demand units from Truma and Girard. Our water heater services include gas and electric element diagnostics and replacement, thermostat testing and calibration, igniter and electrode replacement, ECO (Emergency Cut Off) reset and diagnosis, anode rod inspection and replacement to prevent tank corrosion, full tank flush to remove sediment and mineral buildup, and LP gas supply pressure testing. For tankless units, we perform flow sensor diagnostics, heat exchanger inspection, and control board service to keep your hot water flowing on demand.
Furnaces & Heating
Florida nights can drop into the 30s and 40s during winter, and a furnace that will not light leaves your RV dangerously cold. We service Suburban and Atwood forced-air furnaces, covering the full range of common failures: igniter replacement, sail switch diagnosis, blower motor service, duct inspection for leaks and blockages, and thermostat troubleshooting. We also perform LP gas supply diagnostics to ensure proper pressure is reaching the furnace—because a weak flame is often a gas delivery problem, not a furnace problem. If your furnace cycles on and off repeatedly, runs but produces no heat, or makes unusual noises during operation, our technicians will trace the issue to its source.
Cooktops, Ovens & Ranges
Your RV kitchen should work as reliably as the one at home. We service LP gas cooktops, ovens, and ranges across all major RV brands, including burner cleaning and service, igniter replacement for burners and oven pilot assemblies, oven thermostat calibration and replacement, gas valve testing and replacement, and LP gas pressure testing and regulator service. If your burners light unevenly, your oven runs too hot or too cold, or you smell gas when the appliance is off, bring it to us before a small issue becomes a safety concern.
Washer/Dryer Combos
An onboard washer/dryer is one of the greatest conveniences in a modern RV, and one of the most frustrating appliances when it breaks. We service Splendide and Westland combo units—both ventless and vented configurations. Our washer/dryer services include drain pump diagnosis and replacement, motor service, control board troubleshooting and replacement, door latch and seal repair, vibration and leveling adjustments, and venting system inspection for vented models. These compact combo units have unique engineering challenges compared to residential machines, and our technicians understand the specific failure modes that affect RV installations.
Common A/C Problems in Florida RVs
Florida's heat and humidity push RV air conditioning systems harder than almost any other climate in the country. Here are the problems we see most often at our Lakeland shop:
- A/C runs but doesn't cool — This is the most common complaint we hear. The causes range from low refrigerant charge and dirty condenser coils to a failed compressor. In many cases, a thorough cleaning and capacitor replacement restores full cooling performance without the cost of a compressor swap.
- A/C freezes up — When ice forms on the evaporator coils, airflow drops to nearly zero and the unit stops cooling. The usual culprits are airflow restriction from dirty filters or blocked return vents and low refrigerant charge that causes the evaporator temperature to drop below freezing.
- A/C won't start — A unit that does nothing when you flip the switch could have a failed run capacitor, a bad thermostat, or a power supply issue at the breaker or converter level. We test the entire circuit from the power source to the compressor relay.
- Uneven cooling in multi-zone systems — Larger coaches with ducted A/C and multiple rooftop units can develop zones that are too cold while others barely get any air. This is typically a duct damper, zone board, or thermostat sensor issue.
- Excessive noise or vibration — Loose mounting hardware, worn fan motor bearings, or a compressor on its last legs can all produce noise and vibration that travels through the roof and into the living space. We isolate the source and repair it before it leads to a complete failure.
Why RV Appliances Are Different
RV appliances run on unique power systems that residential appliance technicians simply do not encounter. A single RV appliance may operate on 12V DC, 120V AC, LP gas, or a combination of all three—sometimes switching between power sources automatically depending on whether you are plugged into shore power, running on batteries, or operating off-grid.
A regular appliance tech does not understand these systems. They do not know the difference between a Norcold absorption refrigerator that uses an ammonia cooling cycle powered by propane flame and a residential conversion fridge that requires a dedicated inverter circuit and battery bank to function. They do not know why an RV water heater has both a gas burner and an electric element, or why the furnace needs 12V DC power even when the coach is plugged into a 50-amp shore power pedestal.
Our technicians live in this world. They understand multi-fuel appliances, dual-voltage systems, and the interplay between your coach's electrical, plumbing, and LP gas infrastructure. That knowledge is the difference between a correct diagnosis on the first visit and a string of expensive guesses that never solve the problem.
